Shadows

Mila's world appears safe.  She and her parents live in Tolian, one of the three territories.  Yet, when Shadows were revealed, it appeared that the war drifted away.  In this world, Shadows are given to the lucky few who are drawn in a lottery.  What are Shadows?  A personal bodyguard and it is widely believed that the Shadow is an extension of one's self.  One of Mila's friends, a Shade, reveals that things are not as they seem, that the world in the outer zones of Tolian are still fighting against raids, and the world outside is even worse.  Mila's Shadow, Zero, is always with her, even when all she wants is someone to talk to.  He's her closest friend.  But when she's taken from my home, Mila learns, sees, that the war is still raging and that her father is not the man she thought he was.  What is she supposed to do when her world is turned upside down?
